2014 Lamborghini Aventador LP720-4 50, the special edition with extra power boost does not boost speed
It was rumored earlier this year that the Aventador LP720-4 will make its appearance at the Geneva Motor Show 2013 to commemorate the 50th anniversary celebration of Lamborghini. But the world only saw the weird looking three-off supercar, Veneno.
It appeared as if the supercar manufacturer held it back for the Shanghai Auto Show 2013, which scheduled closer to its anniversary day of May 7th. The special edition has been christened as Aventador LP720-4 50° Anniversario and the name itself explains the objectivity. According to Lamborghini it translates: “the supercar celebrates Lamborghini 50th anniversary and its power has been increased by 20 HP”
The new supercar is donning the favorite color of Lamborghini, the Giallo Maggio exterior paint, which the Italian fast wheels are wearing since 1963. Only 100 units of the special edition Aventador LP720-4 50° Anniversario will be built by Lambo. The special edition glitters in the sun with its special exterior paint is highly appreciated by the brand’s customers.
Apart from the unique shade, the special edition also receives more advanced aerodynamic equipment. In the front the air intakes and splitters got bigger and at the back bigger diffuser and extensive mesh network have been added to improve the ventilation of the engine compartment further. Matte black is the color chosen for the new inductions and side sills. “Aerodynamics of the new Avendador has been improved in efficiency by 50 percent in comparison to a regular Aventador” says the Italian car manufacturer.
For the interior special leather which is semi-aniline has been developed and customers can buy color combination inspired by Lamborghini’s Italian origin, a Nero Ade with the combination of Giallo Quercus or Terra Emilia. Irrespective of the color you choose you will get the unique Q-Citura stitch Lamborghini is offering. The diamond pattern is specially designed to celebrate the special occasion.
50° Anniversario special edition of Lamborghi has a powerful V-12 engine under its hood which is seen in the regular Aventador too but the engine has been subjected to new calibration though. The result of this has been an increase of 20 more horsepower to the standard 700 horses. A quick-responsive ISR transmission has been mated to the engine and it enables the short sprint in 2.9 seconds. However the extra 20 HP does not boost the speed and at peak the special edition docks 217mph which is a similar figure of the standard Lamborghini models.
