Maserati Quattroporte- A Short Review
The Maserati Quattroporte is a car by Maserati from Italy. It’s a ‘Sedan’ class car. This car is four-door luxury car. The name in Italian literally means "four doors". The car has history of six generation. The first of all was launched in 1963, and the latest model in 2013.
The latest version of the car is more long and wide. It gives feeling of a real ‘Sedan’ class rather than a sports car which has rear doors. With all these features it retains its style and originality. The 2014 Quattroporte has size same as that of Audi A8, Mercedes-Benz S-class and BMW 7-series. The wheelbase is been increased to 124.8-inches. The overall length of the car measures up to 207.2 inches. All occupants of the car will experience the 2.5-inch wider body while the occupants at back seat will reap more benefits. The front suspension towers, front fenders, doors, hood and trunklid are made up of aluminium but the main underneath material is steel. Both the control-arm front suspensions as well as multilink rear suspensions are also made up of aluminium that makes the car even lighter than expected.
The car comes in two models, first ‘S Q4’ which has a 404-hp V-6, 3.0-liter and its essentially an all-wheel drive, while second one is GTS which has a 523-hp V-8,3.8-liter and it is rear-wheel drive. Both the models flaunt eight-speed automatics. Inside, the leather is rich in taste and Chrysler’s Uconnect is an added advantage. But the Chrysler-sourced switchgear is not advantageous at all.
The latest Quattroporte has evolved from Pininfarina-penned forerunner and is essentially is a result of in-house work. The car is designed to be a sedan along with a Maserati. However, the car but does not have design features like graceful curves of the design of the predecessor. Doors of the car come with frameless glasses. And this is one of the unique features of the big sedans out there in the market. However, the doors open to the interiors but they are not measuring up to the old model’s idiosyncratic craftsmanship.
Critics say that the design is tasteful and clean, but the materials used for the car are not good, indeed they ate downgraded. In addition the execution of the design is not done in proper way. Those car reviews present at the time of the preproduction versions show, say that they are shown leathers of different types for the car. However, some of the leathers are good and some are not. Overall, the Ferrari sedan touch is nowhere in the car.
